Would you like to keep your phone number when you move?  We moved only 14 miles away in the same county.  Before we moved, we asked our telephone provider if it would be possible to keep the same phone number for our landline phone, and they said yes. However, after we moved they were not able to do so.  It took much more than a good luck stone to keep our number.  Here’s how we did it.

We ported the phone number back to our previous address, since we still owned the home, with a different phone provider. Then we ported it from our old address, with a voice over internet protocol (VOIP) phone provider, to the new address. Our phone service is great, and we were able to retain our phone number.

TIP:  Do not terminate your phone service with your existing company before porting the phone number to the new address with the new phone company. If your phone number is deactivated, it will not be possible to port it.
