Greeting Stones Gift Bowl

Broadway shows are great, but most are musicals because that is what the public wants to see.  However throughout the years, we have seen some really great dramas, and the pleasure is watching talented actors perform live in front of an audience.  The plots are usually more complex than musicals, and you need to pay attention to get the most out of a performance.

My five favorite dramas are (in alpha order)  A Raisin in the Sun, Death of a Salesman, Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird and Twelve Angry Men.  There is nothing bland or vague about any of these dramas.  They all relate to life and death struggles in some form or another.  If any of these shows are playing near you, I suggest you buy tickets.  You are guaranteed a delightful evening.  There are some great shows such as A Man for all Seasons and others that I have not included. My list is not set by stone engraving.  How would you change my list?

Favorite Broadway Musicals

Over the years, Broadway has had many blockbuster shows that played for more than five years.  In the old days, you had to come to New York to see a great show, however, in the 21st century replications are established throughout the country,  Jersey Boys is a classic example of how the success of a Broadway product can be seen throughout the country.

My five all time favorite shows are (not in any order) Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls and West Side Story.  Many folks would tell me that some of the more modern shows like Jersey Boys and Book of Mormons should be included.  Still others would claim that Cats, A Chorus Line and Phantom of the Opera should be included because of their longevity on Broadway.  What about the great Rogers and Hammerstein show likes South Pacific or Oklahoma?    My favorites are arrived at based on the story line and the memorable music I experienced at the theater. My list is not as permanent as engraved business gifts.  What changes would you make to my list?
