Forever In Our Hearts Stones

For many Memorial Day is the unofficial beginning of summer. For others, it’s a three-day holiday with sales, barbecues and picnics. Memorial Day was originally founded after the Civil War to honor the soldiers who died in the war. Now, it’s a day to honor all the Americans who have died in the military to protect our freedom. Read the quotes on your motivational paperweights to help you focus on the real meaning of this holiday. Here are some of my favorite quotations:

  • Peace is the real and right memorial for those who have died in war. ~ Richard Nixon
  • Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. ~ John F. Kennedy
  • Their sacrifice was great, but not in vain. All Americans and every free nation on earth can trace their liberty to the white markers of places like Arlington National Cemetery. And may God keep us ever grateful. ~ George W. Bush
  • How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes! ~ Maya Angelou
