For most of us, losing weight is a long established objective.  Most of us succeed, only to put the weight back on, and often even more weight.  So how can you become motivated to lose weight and keep it off?  Here are some ideas that might work for you.  They don’t involve stress, motivational stones or starvation.  They involve understanding why weight loss is so difficult and how best to approach the challenge.

  1. Success leads to more success. Once you get the ball rolling, keep it rolling.
  2. Why do you want to lose weight? Is it vanity or for health reasons?
  3. Set goals. Don’t just say “lose weight”.  Say four pounds in a month. If you lose four pounds per month, you will lose about 50 pounds in a year.  Now be greedy.  Determine that those pounds are gone forever.
  4. Never say never. If you feel that you can never eat something again, you will crave it more.  Eat some bad stuff every other month, but only in moderation.
  5. Create a visual goals chart and look at it every day.
  6. Keep a diary of what you eat and how much you exercise. Not happy?  Make changes immediately.
