From time to time, we – the overweight –  are all faced with situations when we need to get a bite to eat, but there are no good restaurant choices.  Here are some tips to keep in mind when dealing with that problem.

Steaks and prime rib are high in calories but you can get a healthy meal in Ruth’s Chris or any other good steak restaurant.  Just order the fish or lobster without butter.  Most any high end steak restaurant offers good quality fish.  Ask that it be broiled without oil or butter.  It will taste fine.  Add a salad without dressing (use vinegar or lemon juice instead), a baked potato without butter or sour cream and a green veggie.  Also, avoid the creamed soups.  Cheesecake Factory has lots of good quality low fat food choices, especially on their Skinnylicous menu.  You can also do fine at some fast food restaurants, such as McDonalds salads and the Subway six inch veggie without cheese.  Here again, lay off the fattening dressings and just use vinegar.  It takes some getting used to, but wine or balsamic vinegar actually tastes good.  Steer clear of fattening beverages and you won’t put on a single ounce.  Keep one of our engraved pocket stones with you as a reminder.  Bon Appetit.
