Previously, we published some blogs about the usefulness of clear vinegar besides being used as a cooking additive.  Here are several more ideas to make things easier for you.

  • You can remove gum stuck on fabric by warming some vinegar in the microwave and then using an old clean toothbrush to gently remove the gum.  This trick may also work for removing a grease spot on suede and removing tar from fabric.
  • If you find that your new jeans are a bit stiff, put them in the wash before you wear them and add 8 ounces of vinegar to the load.  Not only will they be softer, it helps to make them more color fast.
  • Use an old cork from a bottle of wine, dip it in vinegar and clean your cutting knives before washing them.  They will be cleaner and it won’t dull the edges.
  • 4-8 ounces of white vinegar added to the rinse cycle of your wash will reduce lint, alkaline and stubborn odors from your clothing.  It also serves as a great fabric softener.

Message stones won’t help you with keeping things clean, but these ideas will.
